Elevate the global strategic partnership to the level of a China-Brazil community with a shared vision for a fairer world and a more sustainable planet, while establishing cooperation for the next five decades in key areas such as sustainable infrastructure, energy transition, artificial intelligence, digital economy, healthcare, and aerospace. This was one of the major outcomes of the discussions, agreements, and partnerships forged during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil. On Wednesday, November 20, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva welcomed the Chinese leader at the Alvorada Palace in Brasília. During this visit, nearly 40 international agreements were signed across sectors like trade, agriculture, industry, investment, science and technology, communications, health, energy, culture, education, and tourism," President Lula stated during his press remarks.

The official relationship between Brazil and China began 50 years ago, fostering a dynamic partnership within international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as forums like the G20 and BRICS. Lula stressed that this meeting further bolsters the strategic alliance between Brazil and China in advocating for global governance reform and promoting a more democratic, fair, and environmentally sustainable international system—a stance that President Xi fully supports.

“As the two largest developing nations in their respective regions, China and Brazil must take on the historic responsibility of protecting the common interests of Global South countries, working to establish a more just and balanced global order. We will deepen our collaboration in priority fields like economy and trade, finance, science and technology, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability, while also enhancing cooperation in emerging areas such as energy transition, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and green mining,” President Xi remarked.

SYNERGIES - The discussions also explored synergies between the two nations' investment and development policies and programs, as well as the strengthening of bilateral relations and coordination on regional and multilateral issues. "We will create synergies between Brazil's development strategies, such as the New Industry Brazil [Nova Indústria Brasil/NIB], the Growth Acceleration Program [Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento/PAC], the South American Integration Routes Program [Programa Rotas da Integração Sul-Americana], the Ecological Transformation Plan [Plano de Transformação Ecológica], and the Belt and Road Initiative [Iniciativa Cinturão e Rota]," President Lula stated.
