IN RECENT DAYS, THE VESSEL WAS REPORTEDLY ESCORTED BY A RUSSIAN SUBMARINE, A MOVE THAT RAISED THE RISK OF A DIRECT DIPLOMATIC AND MILITARY ESCALATION BETWEEN WASHINGTON AND MOSCOW.
